Piglin Bartering

Blockhead Odyssey expands Minecraft’s vanilla Piglin Bartering system without replacing it. Gold Ingots still work exactly as they normally do in Minecraft, while our custom system gives Piglins many additional goods they are willing to accept.

The result is a second layer of Nether trade built around exploration, rare finds, pearls, scarabs, expedition valuables, and other goods from across the server.

Vanilla Piglin Bartering

In normal Minecraft, an adult Piglin can barter when given a Gold Ingot. You can either interact with the Piglin while holding the ingot or throw the ingot where the Piglin can reach it.

The Piglin examines the Gold Ingot for several seconds and then throws a random item from Minecraft’s normal Piglin barter loot table. There is no trading menu and no guaranteed reward.

Important: Blockhead Odyssey does not replace vanilla Gold Ingot bartering. Gold Ingots still use Minecraft’s ordinary Piglin barter system.

What About Baby Piglins?

Baby Piglins are not merchants.

They may pick up or admire items you throw to them, including gold, but they do not barter. If a baby Piglin takes your Gold Ingot, it will not give you a barter reward in return.

In other words: make sure you are dealing with an adult Piglin before throwing something valuable at it.

Blockhead Odyssey Custom Bartering

Adult Piglins on Blockhead Odyssey also recognize a large collection of custom trade goods. When you offer one of these items, the Piglin examines it and gives you a reward from our custom Piglin Bartering system.

Each successful custom trade consumes exactly one offered item.

Custom offerings are divided into five tiers. Higher-tier goods award more Bartering XP and give access to stronger reward distributions.

Tier II Rewards

Bartering XP

Every successful custom trade awards Piglin Bartering XP. The value depends on the tier of the item you offered:

Offering Tier Bartering XP
Tier I 1 XP
Tier II 3 XP
Tier III 5 XP
Tier IV 10 XP
Tier V 15 XP

Bartering Levels

Bartering XP advances your current Piglin Bartering cycle through Levels I through V. These levels do not prevent you from using higher-tier offerings. Instead, they grant cumulative Nether perks while your current cycle is active.

Bartering I

The starting level. No special Nether perk.

Bartering II

Reduced slowdown from Soul Sand and Soul Soil.

Bartering III

Includes the Bartering II perk, plus reduced fall damage.

Bartering IV

Includes all previous perks, plus 50% reduced damage from Ghasts.

Bartering V

Includes all previous perks, plus Piglin Favor.

Ordinary Piglins treat you as though you are wearing gold armor. Piglin Brutes remain hostile, and attacking or provoking Piglins overrides this favor.

Bartering Cycles

Reaching Bartering V places you at the final stage of the current cycle. Continued custom bartering can eventually produce an exclusive Cycle Reward.

When a Cycle Reward is received, your current Bartering Level returns to Level I and the temporary Nether perks from that cycle are lost. You can then begin climbing again toward another Cycle Reward.

The Cycle Reward is the payoff for giving up your accumulated Level II-V perks and beginning a new Bartering cycle.

Piglin Bartering Contests

Blockhead Odyssey can also host timed Piglin Bartering contests.

A standard contest lasts 20 minutes and requires at least 4 players online before it can begin.

During the contest, players compete to earn the greatest amount of Bartering XP from successful custom Piglin trades.

Contest scoring uses the same base values as normal Bartering XP:

  • Tier I trade: 1 point
  • Tier II trade: 3 points
  • Tier III trade: 5 points
  • Tier IV trade: 10 points
  • Tier V trade: 15 points

Vanilla Gold Ingot barters do not count toward the contest because they are part of Minecraft’s normal Piglin barter system rather than Blockhead Odyssey’s custom system.

Live standings are available during the event, with rewards awarded to the top finishers when the contest ends.

Tips for Bartering

  • Make sure you are trading with an adult Piglin.
  • Do not expect Baby Piglins to return anything they pick up.
  • Higher-tier offerings provide more Bartering XP.
  • Higher-tier offerings also have stronger reward distributions.
  • Carry several different types of offerings rather than relying on only one item.
  • Remember that Piglin Brutes do not care about your Bartering Level.
  • Vanilla Gold Ingot bartering remains useful and completely separate.
