This guide explains what to do when you first join, how to get started safely, and how to avoid the most common beginner mistakes.

Blockhead Odyssey is a Minecraft: Java Edition server.

What Kind of Server Is This?

Blockhead Odyssey is a PvE survival multiplayer server with extra progression layered on top of normal Minecraft survival.

You can:

  • Build a survival base
  • Found or join a town
  • Complete quests
  • Earn money through jobs and activities
  • Explore resource worlds
  • Fish, mine, farm, brew, trade, and collect
  • Fight custom mobs and bosses
  • Explore dungeons and special structures
  • Collect custom items, cosmetics, plushies, and event rewards
  • Participate in seasonal events and tournaments

The server is designed for players who want more goals than plain vanilla survival while still keeping survival Minecraft as the foundation.

Your First Few Minutes

When you first join, do not immediately run off without understanding where you are.

Start by doing these things:

  1. Read the rules.
  2. Look around the spawn area.
  3. Check available menus, NPCs, or guide information.
  4. Use /spawn if you get turned around.
  5. Use /rtp when you are ready to begin survival.
  6. Gather wood, food, stone, and basic supplies.
  7. Save your coordinates once you find a place to settle.

Important First Commands

These commands are useful for new players.

Starting Survival

Once you are ready to begin survival, use /rtp to find a starting area.

After teleporting, focus on the basics:

  • Collect wood.
  • Make a crafting table.
  • Make basic tools.
  • Collect food.
  • Mine stone.
  • Make torches.
  • Find or build shelter.
  • Make a bed.
  • Save your coordinates.

Do not wander for an hour without saving coordinates. That is how players lose their first base.

Save Your Coordinates

Coordinates are extremely important on Blockhead Odyssey.

In Java Edition, press:

F3

Look for the XYZ line.

Write your base coordinates down somewhere safe:

You should save coordinates for:

  • Your base
  • Your town
  • Your mine
  • Your Nether portal
  • Villages
  • Dungeons
  • Interesting structures
  • Important farms

Set Your Spawn Point

Once you have a base or temporary shelter, make a bed and sleep in it when possible.

A bed lets you respawn near your base after death. Without a valid bed spawn, you may return to the world spawn instead.

Basic bed recipe:

3 Wool + 3 Planks

Do not rely only on your bed. Beds can be destroyed, blocked, or moved. Save your coordinates too.

Understanding the Worlds

Blockhead Odyssey has multiple worlds and areas for different purposes.

Odyssia

Odyssia is the main survival world. This is where players build, settle, form towns, and create long-term bases.

The Outlands

The Outlands is the resource world. It is useful for gathering materials, exploring, mining, farming resources, and finding adventure without tearing up the main world.

Nether and End Worlds

The server may include separate Nether and End areas depending on the world setup. Be prepared before entering dangerous dimensions.

Bring armor, food, blocks, tools, a weapon, and a way to relight portals before serious Nether travel.

Building Your First Base

Your first base does not need to be impressive. It needs to be safe.

A good starter base should have:

  • Light to prevent hostile mobs
  • A bed
  • Crafting table
  • Furnace
  • Storage chests
  • Food nearby
  • Room for a small farm
  • Saved coordinates

Starter bases can always be replaced later. Build something functional first, then improve it.

Land Protection and Towns

Blockhead Odyssey uses town and land protection systems so players can build safely and protect their work.

When you are ready to settle permanently, you should learn how claiming, towns, permissions, and protected areas work.

Until you understand land protection, avoid building extremely valuable structures in random unprotected areas.

Good early advice:

Ranks and Progression

Blockhead Odyssey has free progression ranks that players can earn through gameplay.

New players begin as Wanderers and can progress through additional ranks as they play.

Premium support ranks may also exist, but normal gameplay progression is still important.

Dungeons and Dangerous Content

Do not rush into dungeons unprepared.

Dungeons may include stronger mobs, bosses, traps, locked chests, special mechanics, and valuable rewards.

Before entering dangerous content, bring:

  • Armor
  • Weapons
  • Food
  • A shield
  • Torches
  • Blocks
  • Tools
  • Backup gear if you can afford it

It is also smart to save the dungeon coordinates and avoid carrying everything valuable you own.

Common Beginner Mistakes

Running off without reading anything

This server has more systems than plain vanilla. Take a few minutes to understand the basics before sprinting into the wilderness.

Not saving coordinates

Save your base coordinates. A bed is useful, but coordinates are your backup plan.

Building without understanding land protection

If you build something important, learn how towns and claims work.

Carrying everything valuable while exploring

Store valuables before going into caves, the Nether, dungeons, or unknown areas.

Ignoring food

Low hunger means you cannot heal properly. Keep food on your hotbar.

Entering dungeons too early

Custom mobs and bosses may be much stronger than ordinary survival mobs.

Forgetting this is a multiplayer server

Respect other players’ builds, towns, farms, shops, and space.

Assuming every guide is pure vanilla

Recommended New Player Path

If you want a simple path to follow, use this:
