Blockhead Odyssey Metals

Dusts, Nuggets, Ingots, Alloys & Forge Flux

A steampunk-flavored progression system built on mining, smelting, and alloy craft.

How the Metal System Works

On Blockhead Odyssey, ores can drop special metal dusts. You refine those into nuggets, then ingots, and finally into advanced alloys like Steel and Bronze using Forge Flux.

PROGRESSION TIP Fortune still helps you here. More ores broken = more chances for dusts, especially from deepslate and Nether ores.

Dusts – Extra Drops from Ores

When you mine certain blocks, you have a chance to receive themed metal dusts in addition to the normal vanilla drop. These are the foundation of the entire system.

Block Mined Dust Notes
Nether Quartz OreIron DustExtra iron while farming quartz in the Nether.
Ancient DebrisCopper DustSmall chance during Netherite runs.
Redstone OreAluminum DustStandard overworld redstone.
Deepslate Redstone OreNeodymium DustDeep redstone veins = late-game rare-earth metal.
Copper OreTin DustCopper veins double as tin sources.
Coal OreLead DustLead appears with coal.
Emerald OreMagnesium DustMountain emerald veins.
Diamond OreCobalt DustHigh-value cobalt from regular diamonds.
Deepslate Diamond OreTitanium DustDeep diamond = Titanium.
Iron OreNickel DustFits real-world geology.
Deepslate Iron OreTungsten DustDeep iron veins.
Gold OreSilver DustAny overworld gold.
Lapis OreZinc DustStandard lapis.
Deepslate Lapis OreChromium DustDeep blue veins.
Sand / Red SandSaltExcavating beaches & deserts.
NetherrackSulfate DustLow chance while clearing Nether terrain.
LOOT TIP Many dusts use the same ore family (emerald variants, iron variants, etc.). Deepslate versions usually yield rarer or more advanced metals.

Nuggets – First Refinement Stage

Smelt metal dusts in a Furnace or Blast Furnace to obtain nuggets. Iron Dust becomes the vanilla Iron Nugget; all other dusts produce custom nuggets like Aluminum, Cobalt, Titanium, etc.

  • Smelt dust → nugget in any furnace.
  • Blast Furnace refines dusts faster.
  • Nuggets are used for compact storage and crafting ingots.

Nuggets → Ingots

Most custom metals follow the classic 9-to-1 pattern.

9 Nuggets → 1 Ingot

METALS USING THIS PATTERN Aluminum, Tin, Lead, Zinc, Nickel, Silver, Cobalt, Tungsten, Titanium, Chromium, Neodymium, Magnesium.

Ingots – Core Currency of the Metal System

Once you convert nuggets to ingots, you’re holding the main “currency” for higher-tier crafting, shops, and tech on Blockhead Odyssey.

  • Standard ingots: Aluminum, Tin, Lead, Zinc, Nickel, Silver.
  • Advanced ingots: Cobalt, Tungsten, Titanium, Chromium, Neodymium, Magnesium.
  • Special ingots: Steel and Bronze (see the Alloys tab).
ECONOMY TIP Many late-game systems will ask for ingots, not dusts. Convert up when you’re ready to trade or craft; convert back to nuggets when you need small-denomination crafting.

Alloys – Steel & Bronze

Alloys are created by combining base metals with Forge Flux in large batches and then smelting the resulting admixture buckets.

Steel Admixture & Steel Ingots

Craft a Steel Admixture (Bucket) in a crafting table, then smelt it in a Blast Furnace:

Smelt in a Blast Furnace → 8 Steel Ingots

Bronze Admixture & Bronze Ingots

Bronze uses Copper and Tin instead of Iron and Coal, plus Forge Flux and a bucket, then smelted in a Blast Furnace:

ALLOY STRATEGY Alloys are designed for bulk production. Gather dusts, run them through furnaces, convert up to ingots, craft admixtures, then smelt for a big payout of Steel or Bronze.

Forge Flux – The Heart of Alloy Crafting

Forge Flux is a special reagent used to refine molten metal in Steel and Bronze admixtures. You’ll need a steady supply of it if you plan to run any serious alloy operation.

Forge Flux Recipe

Crafted in a normal crafting table using beach/Nether byproducts:

  • Coal
  • Blaze Powder
  • Salt (from Sand/Red Sand)
  • Sulfate Dust (from Netherrack)

SUPPLY CHAIN Flux ties together overworld beaches, Nether mining, mob farms (for Blaze Powder), and your coal supply. If you’re low on any one piece, your whole alloy line stalls.
