On Blockhead Odyssey, we’ve integrated CustomCrops, a powerful farming plugin that transforms the agriculture experience. Instead of vanilla crops only, you’ll have a living, breathing farming ecosystem with more custom plants, seasons, tools, and challenges—bringing farming into the heart of your adventure.
Key Features in Our Implementation
| Feature | What It Does | How We Use It on Our Server |
|---|---|---|
| Seasons & Greenhouses | Crops only grow in appropriate seasons; off-season crops can die or wither, or just fail to grow. Greenhouses allow year-round growing under protective glass. | On Blockhead Odyssey, we have four seasons. Each season lasts 24 hours and affects which crops thrive. Want to grow out-of-season? Build or use a greenhouse! |
| Variations & Quality | Crops come in 3 quality tiers: normal, silver-star, and gold-star. Some crops produce variants, like the golden tomato. | We have implemented quests to reward collection of the various quality tiers. Tiers and variants can have special uses as ingredients in culinary and brewery recipes. |
| Fertilizers | Fertilizers and bone meals boost growth, etc. (We use vanilla water mechanics, making some out-of-box fertilizers obsolete.) | We’ve added a special fertilizer recipe allowing you to recover random seeds from crops killed by harsh winters, etc. |
| Scarecrows & Crows | There is a random chance for crows to attack most crops; scarecrows help protect them. This adds a risk / maintenance element. | On Blockhead Odyssey, failure to protect crops from crows can cost you yield, so plan your farms properly. |
| Custom Crop Types & Stages | We can define new crops with multiple growth stages, custom appearances, behaviors, etc. | We’ve introduced several unique crops with special growth requirements, rewards, or uses. |
| Performance Optimizations | Even with many crops planted, growth ticks are distributed asynchronously, data is removed once crops are fully grown, etc. | We’ve optimized performance + kept vanilla water mechanics — large farms are possible without causing debilitating server lag. |

How to Get Started
CustomCrops on Blockhead Odyssey are farmed on vanilla farmland instead of pots. So while acquiring pots won’t be an issue, players will still need seeds to begin their growing adventure.
Acquiring Seeds
But There are multiple ways to get seeds:
1) Voting Rewards – Both vote crate rewards and voting milestone rewards can include a Seeds Packet, each of which give a set of 16 seeds from a random custom crop. You could also receive a Gold-Label Seeds Packet, which gives a set of 64 seeds from a randomly chosen custom crop.
2) Special Mob Drops – Along with September 2025 Special Collection drops in the Resource World, players had an equal chance to get a Gold-Label Seeds Packet when killing a hostile mob (spawner mobs and pillagers excluded).
3) NPC Vendors – Seeds Packets can be bought with vote sapphires from the voting rewards vendor at /votecrates or with rubies from the ChatGames rewards vendor at /market.
4) Quest Rewards – Players now receive a Seeds Packet as a reward when completing any advanced farming quest.
5) Odyssey Shop – As players get more seeds than they can use, they have the opportunity to sell their extras to the Odyssey Shop npc in /market. There other players can buy the seeds that have been sold, and prices change dynamically based on supply and demand.
Greenhouses and Scarecrows
Greenshouses allow players to plant off-season crops and ensure plants don’t die if left unharvested into a hostile season. Greenhouse glass is a little pricey to make, but it is only necessary above the crops to prevent negative season effects.
This is the recipe for greenhouse glass:

Players should be careful that they don’t place their greenhouse ceiling too high, or the game won’t register the protection for the crops below. Also, greenhouse glass is necessary underground and indoors as well, because if you could just use any block, what would be the point of requiring greenhouse glass?
Scarecrows protect an area from crows, which will come at intervals and eat your crops. The simplest scarecrow is craftable, and protects crops in a 5×5 radius. Better scarecrows will become available that offer more robust protection.
This is the recipe for an entry-level scarecrow:
